AI sales tools compared: CRM agents, prospecting data, call intelligence and AI SDRs
Sales was one of the first business functions where vendors sold AI as a replacement for people instead of a helper. That pitch peaked with AI SDR startups in 2024 and 2025 and met resistance from buyers whose reply rates fell. In 2026 most of the money in AI sales goes to tools that sit inside the CRM and engagement platforms reps already use, priced on a mix of seats and AI credits.
This guide sorts the tools in this category, explains how each one charges, and lists what to check before you sign.
Five kinds of AI sales tool
| Group | What it does | Tools in this directory | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRM-native agents | Research, drafting and data cleanup on CRM records | Salesforce Agentforce, HubSpot Breeze, Pipedrive AI | Seats plus credits or per-user add-ons |
| Prospecting platforms | Contact data, enrichment and AI emails | Apollo | Seats plus data credits |
| Engagement platforms | Sequences, dialing and agents for outbound | Outreach, Nooks | Quote, seats plus AI credits |
| Call intelligence | Records, transcribes and scores conversations | Gong | Quote, seats plus platform fee |
| Autonomous agents | Outbound and pipeline work with little supervision | Actively AI, 11x | Annual contracts |
CRM-native agents
Salesforce Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for AI agents. In sales it researches accounts, prepares for meetings, drafts emails and updates records using the same permissions as the rep. Salesforce retired the Einstein name for its generative AI and now sells this as Agentforce Sales. It has three ways to pay that can run side by side: Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000, where a standard action uses 20 credits or about $0.10; $2 per conversation for customer-facing agents; and per-user licenses, from a $5 metered license to a $125 add-on with unmetered employee use. On September 3, 2026 Salesforce introduced Sales Cloud Core, Advanced and Max editions at $195, $395 and $550 per user a month billed yearly, each with a pool of Flex Credits. The free Salesforce Foundations tier includes Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder. Unused Flex Credits do not roll over.
HubSpot Breeze is the name HubSpot gave its AI in September 2024. It includes an assistant inside the CRM, agents for tasks such as prospecting and data cleanup, and Breeze Intelligence, the enrichment data HubSpot gained when it bought Clearbit. Agents spend HubSpot Credits, sold in packs of 1,000 for $10. The Prospecting Agent uses 100 credits, about $1, for each lead it recommends, and the Data Agent 10 credits per prompt. Paid Hubs include a monthly allowance of credits. Sales Hub Professional costs $90 a seat a month billed yearly with a $1,500 onboarding fee, and Enterprise starts at $150 with $3,500 onboarding.
Pipedrive aims at small sales teams with a visual pipeline. Its AI Sales Assistant suggests next steps, predicts which deals are likely to close and flags deals that have stalled. Published plans in early 2026 started at $14 a seat a month billed yearly, with a 14-day trial.
Prospecting platforms
Apollo combines a database of more than 240 million contacts, according to Apollo, with email sequences, a dialer, call recording and an AI Assistant that researches accounts and drafts messages. It is the most price-transparent tool in the category. The free plan includes a small monthly credit allowance. Basic costs $49 a seat a month billed yearly, Professional $79 and Organization $119 with a three-seat minimum. Credits decide real cost: Apollo charges more credits to reveal a mobile number than a verified email.
Engagement platforms
Outreach built its name on email and call sequences for SDR teams and moved to outreach.ai in 2026. Its Amplify packages add AI agents, including a Research Agent, a Deal Agent, a Revenue Agent and an Omni Agent that answers questions about pipeline and drafts follow-ups in Outreach, Slack or mobile. Outreach says it charges per user with no platform fee, plus AI credits: 10,000 in Amplify Essentials, 25,000 in Core, 50,000 in Plus and 100,000 in Pro. It does not publish prices. Vendr, which tracks buyer contracts, reported a median Outreach contract of about $45,600 a year in February 2026.
Nooks is an AI dialer and sequencing tool for SDR teams. Its parallel dialer calls several numbers at once and connects the rep when someone answers, and it adds real-time transcription, call scripts, buying signals and a virtual sales floor where managers can listen in. Nooks bought FullyRamped, an AI coaching tool, in 2026. Pricing is by quote.
Call intelligence
Gong records calls, emails and meetings, transcribes them and analyzes what happens across deals. Managers use it to coach reps, track competitor mentions and see which deals are at risk. Gong lists 16 named AI agents, from a transcriber to a deal predictor. Its pricing page names three parts without amounts: per-user licenses, a platform fee based on team size, and free integrations. From mid-2026 each paid core seat includes 2,000 AI credits a year, pooled across the company, for features such as AI trackers, the Ask Anything API and Gong's MCP server. Vendr reported a median Gong contract of about $55,000 a year in March 2026.
Autonomous agents and AI SDRs
AI SDR products promise to do the work of a sales development rep: find prospects, research them, write and send messages, and book meetings. 11x became the best-known name and also the cautionary tale. In March 2025 TechCrunch reported that 11x had displayed logos of companies that were not customers and that former employees described high churn, which 11x disputed. Its founder stepped aside in May 2025. See our agents guide for more on 11x.
Actively AI sells custom agents that work on account research, pipeline generation and expansion for larger sales teams. It raised a $22.5 million Series A led by Bain Capital Ventures in April 2025.
Buyers who run AI SDR pilots successfully tend to follow the same rules: narrow targeting, a person reviewing the messaging, separate sending domains, and measurement of meetings held and pipeline created, not meetings booked.
How AI sales pricing works now
| Vendor | Published price | AI billing |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce | Yes | Flex Credits, per conversation or per-user add-on |
| HubSpot | Yes | HubSpot Credits on top of seats |
| Apollo | Yes | Data and AI credits per seat |
| Outreach | No | AI credits in each package |
| Gong | No | Pooled AI credits per seat, plus platform fee |
| Nooks | No | Quote |
The shift to credits means a seat count no longer fixes your bill. Ask each vendor what a typical action costs, whether credits roll over, what happens when the pool runs out, and whether you can cap spending.
Rules that apply to automated outreach
- Email. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires a real sender, an honest subject line, a postal address and a working opt-out. Google and Yahoo require bulk senders to authenticate their domains and keep spam complaints low.
- Calls. The FCC ruled in February 2024 that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, so robocalls using them need prior consent.
- Europe and the UK. GDPR and e-privacy laws limit unsolicited marketing email to individuals, with rules that differ by country.
- Data. Contact databases collect personal data. Check how vendors source it and whether they honor deletion requests.
How to choose
- Start with the CRM you already pay for, and test its built-in agents before adding tools.
- Find the bottleneck. Too few prospects points to Apollo or enrichment. Low connect rates point to a dialer such as Nooks. Weak coaching points to Gong.
- Ask for the credit math on a realistic month of activity, including what happens when credits run out.
- Pilot for one quarter with a defined goal, such as pipeline created per rep, before signing an annual contract.
- Protect your domains and review AI-written messages before they go to prospects.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI tool for sales teams?
Start with your CRM. Teams on Salesforce get the most from Agentforce, which works on the same records and permissions as reps. HubSpot teams get Breeze agents and conversation intelligence inside Sales Hub. Small outbound teams often choose Apollo because it combines contacts, sequences, a dialer and AI writing at published prices. Larger teams with many calls add Gong or Outreach for conversation analysis and coaching. Buying a point tool that does not sync with your CRM usually creates more manual work.
Do AI SDRs work?
Results are mixed. AI SDR products such as 11x and Artisan send personalized outbound email at volume and book meetings, but buyers report that reply rates can fall within months as sending domains lose reputation and prospects recognize automated messages. 11x's own CEO said in 2026 that he did not think AI SDRs work in their current form. Teams that succeed treat them as tools run by a person, with tight targeting, human review of messaging and measurement of meetings held, not meetings booked.
How much does Salesforce Agentforce cost?
Salesforce sells it several ways. Salesforce Foundations gives free access to Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000, and a standard action uses 20 credits, about $0.10. Customer-facing agents can be billed at $2 per conversation. Employee use can be unmetered with the Agentforce add-on at $125 per user a month. The Sales Cloud editions launched on September 3, 2026, Core, Advanced and Max, cost $195, $395 and $550 per user a month billed yearly and include pools of Flex Credits.
What is the difference between Gong and Outreach?
Gong started with call recording and conversation intelligence and is strongest at analyzing calls, coaching reps and spotting deal risk. Outreach started with email and call sequences for SDRs and is strongest at running outbound and managing pipeline, though it now records and analyzes calls too. Both sell AI agents on top. Gong charges per seat plus a platform fee and includes 2,000 AI credits a year per paid seat. Outreach says it charges per user with no platform fee, plus AI credits in its Amplify packages.
Is it legal to use AI for cold outreach?
It depends on the country and the channel. In the US, cold email is allowed under the CAN-SPAM Act if messages identify the sender, avoid misleading subject lines and honor opt-outs, while AI-voiced calls to mobile phones need prior consent under the FCC's 2024 ruling on the TCPA. In the EU and UK, GDPR and e-privacy rules restrict unsolicited email to individuals. Email providers including Google and Yahoo also enforce sender authentication and complaint limits for bulk senders. Check local rules before automating outreach.
