CaseMark logo CaseMark in brief

CaseMark builds AI for litigation teams, court reporters and litigation support companies. It first became known for AI deposition summaries, and its main product is now Para, which it describes as an AI colleague for legal teams; Para was formerly called CaseMark Operator. Its users include personal injury and commercial litigation firms, paralegals, legal nurse consultants and court reporting agencies that resell summaries under their own brand. CaseMark says it is SOC 2 Type II audited and HIPAA compliant, encrypts data with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 in transit, and does not use customer data to train models on its Pro and Enterprise plans.

Para takes requests in email, Microsoft Teams, Slack, meetings and its web app, and it records meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex. It connects to Clio, Smokeball, Google Drive and Microsoft 365 for documents. Teams assign it work such as reviewing medical records, drafting demand letters, writing motions for summary judgment or preparing deposition bundles, and Para keeps working after hours, then reports back with drafts and questions. CaseMark says Para checks with an attorney before anything leaves the firm and that work going to a court or client goes out under an attorney's name. Projects, automations, skills and meetings are included on every plan.

CaseMark's strengths are low entry prices, pay-per-file summaries with no subscription, page-level citations, multiple deposition formats, white label options for court reporters and Para's ability to work in email and chat tools lawyers already use. Its weaknesses are a smaller company than the major legal platforms, no case management of its own and inconsistent published rates for some summary types. Filevine and Litify include deposition and medical AI inside full case management. EvenUp and Supio focus on personal injury demands and case analysis. CoCounsel and Harvey offer broad legal AI for research and drafting. Choose CaseMark if you want affordable, cited summaries or an AI colleague without changing systems.

Filevine logo Filevine in brief

Filevine was founded in 2014 in Salt Lake City by Ryan Anderson, its CEO, and grew from a personal injury case management tool into a broad legal platform. It says nearly 6,000 customers and 100,000 legal professionals use it, from boutique firms to government agencies and Fortune 500 companies, and that users upload more than 20 million pages of documents a day. In September 2025 Filevine announced $400 million in equity funding over two rounds led by Insight Partners, Accel and Halo Fund, which Law.com reported put its valuation at about $3 billion. Its core customers remain plaintiff litigation firms, though it also sells contract management and products for in-house and public sector teams.

Filevine's case management centralizes everything about a matter: contacts, documents, emails, text messages, phone logs, deadlines, calendars, tasks, notes, intake forms and audit logs. Firms configure custom project templates, fields and workflows for each practice area, and automations move cases between phases. Other modules cover lead intake, document assembly, e-signature, timekeeping and billing, client texting, reporting dashboards and contract lifecycle management. Implementation is handled by Filevine and certified partners. The platform runs on AWS and offers APIs and integrations with Microsoft 365, Google, accounting tools and others. Its depth of configuration suits firms with established processes but means setup takes real work.

Filevine's strengths are deep, configurable case management, AI that works with the full context of each matter, strong deposition tools, medical chronologies for injury firms and heavy investment in product. Its weaknesses are opaque pricing, AI billed separately by project, a configuration-heavy setup and a feature set that can be more than small firms need. Litify offers a similar Salesforce-based platform with native AI agents. Clio is simpler and better known among small firms. EvenUp and Supio focus on AI for personal injury demands and case analysis. CaseMark sells AI deposition summaries per file. Choose Filevine if you want case management and legal AI in one system.
