Hyperbrowser Review, Pricing & Alternatives (2026)

Cloud browsers, sandboxes and web data APIs for AI agents, with CAPTCHA solving

Last updated: October 26, 2026

What is Hyperbrowser?

Hyperbrowser is infrastructure for AI agents that need the web. It runs headless browsers in the cloud with stealth mode, proxies and CAPTCHA solving, plus isolated sandbox VMs, fetch and search APIs and hosted agents such as HyperAgent and Browser Use. A free plan includes 5,000 credits, and paid plans start at $30 a month with usage included.

Hyperbrowser is a San Francisco company backed by Y Combinator, Accel and SV Angel, founded by CEO Shri Sukhani, a former Meta engineer, and Akshay Shekhawat. It launched its browser infrastructure for AI agents in January 2025. Its users are developers and AI teams building agents that book, buy, fill forms, test websites or collect data, plus companies that run web scraping at scale. Hyperbrowser says more than 100 million browser sessions have run on the platform, that it supports more than 1,000 concurrent isolated browsers and that a browser is ready in under 500 milliseconds from the request.

The core product is browser sessions: cloud Chrome instances that developers control with Playwright, Puppeteer, the Node.js or Python SDKs, the CLI or MCP. Sessions include stealth mode against bot detection, automatic CAPTCHA solving, residential proxies, saved browser profiles with cookies and logins, and live viewing and recordings for debugging. Sandboxes are isolated virtual machines that start in under 50 milliseconds, with Ubuntu images that include Node, Python, Playwright Chromium or agent command line tools such as Claude Code and Codex. Agents can install packages, run tests and expose a development server through a URL, and memory snapshots save a prepared environment for later runs.

For web data, the Web API fetches pages as clean text or structured JSON, runs web searches and offers AI Extract for pulling fields from pages. For agents, Hyperbrowser hosts HyperAgent, its open source framework that adds natural language commands such as page.ai and page.extract on top of Playwright, as well as Browser Use and computer-use models from AI labs. Developers send a task in plain language, watch the steps and get the result back. HyperAgent can also run locally, falls back to regular Playwright when AI is not needed and acts as an MCP client to reach other tools.

Hyperbrowser bills in credits, where 1,000 credits equal $1 of usage, and the same rates apply on every self-serve plan. Browser time costs $0.10 an hour and proxy data $10 per GB. Sandboxes cost $0.045 per vCPU-hour plus $0.015 per GiB-hour of memory. Fetch costs $0.001 per page, search $0.005 per query and agent steps $0.02 each. Free includes 5,000 credits and one concurrent session. Startup costs $30 a month with $30 of usage and 25 concurrent sessions. Scale costs $100 a month with $100 of usage and 100 sessions. Enterprise adds 1,000-plus sessions, longer data retention and ultra stealth.

Hyperbrowser's strengths are one credit balance across browsers, sandboxes, web data and hosted agents, low published per-hour browser rates, stealth and CAPTCHA solving on every plan, and the open source HyperAgent framework. Its weaknesses are a younger company than some rivals, plan credits that reset each month, and ultra stealth reserved for Enterprise or paid add-ons. Browserbase is the best-known rival for agent browsers. Steel offers open source browser infrastructure. Browser Use focuses on the agent framework itself. Firecrawl and Tavily handle web data for LLMs without full browsers. Choose Hyperbrowser if you want browsers, VMs and web data for agents from one provider.

Who is Hyperbrowser best for?

  • Developers giving agents a real browser.
  • Web scraping that faces bot detection.
  • Coding agents that need isolated VMs.
  • Teams running many sessions at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Hyperbrowser cost?

Hyperbrowser has a Free plan with 5,000 credits and one concurrent session. Startup costs $30 a month with $30 of usage and 25 sessions, and Scale costs $100 a month with $100 of usage and 100 sessions. Usage rates include $0.10 per browser hour, $0.001 per fetched page and $0.02 per agent step.

What is HyperAgent?

HyperAgent is Hyperbrowser's open source browser automation framework. It wraps Playwright with AI commands such as page.ai, page.extract and executeTask, so you can describe actions in plain language instead of writing selectors. It falls back to regular Playwright when needed, acts as an MCP client and scales on Hyperbrowser's cloud.

What are Hyperbrowser sandboxes?

Sandboxes are isolated cloud virtual machines that start in under 50 milliseconds. Agents can install packages, edit files, run commands and expose a development server through a URL. Base images include Node, Python, Playwright Chromium and agent CLIs, and memory snapshots let you restore a prepared environment in later runs.

Does Hyperbrowser solve CAPTCHAs?

Yes. Automatic CAPTCHA solving is listed on the Startup, Scale and Enterprise plans, along with stealth mode and residential proxies. Enterprise adds ultra stealth mode for harder sites. Users are responsible for following each website's terms of service and applicable laws when automating or collecting data.

Hyperbrowser or Browserbase, which is better?

Both run cloud browsers for AI agents with stealth, proxies and session recordings. Hyperbrowser bundles sandbox VMs, fetch and search APIs and hosted agents into one credit balance with published per-hour rates. Browserbase has a larger following and its Stagehand framework.
