Reve Review, Pricing & Alternatives (2026)

A web workspace for generating, editing and arranging images

Last updated: October 26, 2026

What is Reve?

Reve is a web-based image workspace for individual creators and teams who want generation, natural-language editing, compositing and video in one product. It is a poor fit for developers needing an integration because the company says its API ended on August 14, 2026. The free plan costs $0 per month, while paid access starts at $7.99 per month plus tax.

Reve is a Palo Alto startup that launched in March 2025 with Reve Image 1.0, also called Halfmoon. The company introduced it as an image model focused on prompt adherence, aesthetics and typography. VentureBeat reported that the launch had no API or long-term pricing. Artificial Analysis comparisons at the time placed it ahead of Midjourney v6.1, Imagen 3, Recraft V3 and FLUX.1.1 Pro. In October 2025, Reve described a 10-person research team. The company later moved from a single generation model toward a consumer workspace covering image creation, editing, video, assistance and collaboration. Reve does not publish a verified funding figure in its launch and company announcements.

Reve combines text-to-image generation with ask-to-edit, remixing, multi-image compositing and a drag-and-drop object editor announced in beta. A normal workflow can start with a written prompt, continue with natural-language changes, and use either a generated or uploaded image as the editing source. The company also announced a creative assistant with web search, PDF context and audio context on Pro, plus shared work features for teams. Reve says its editing system represents images as structured layouts. That approach is intended to let users change objects and composition without treating every request as a wholly new image. The product therefore covers more stages of a visual task than a basic prompt box, although its former API is no longer available.

Reve 2.0 replaced earlier models in June 2026. The company says the release reached number two on Arena's text-to-image leaderboard, used 10 times fewer GPUs than competitors, supported native 4K output and produced layout-aware images that could be edited directly. Reve 1.5 was described in the February 2026 FAQ as the latest model at that time and initially offered text-to-image access in preview. An October 2025 editing announcement claimed top-three placements on LMArena and Artificial Analysis, along with strong results for shadow removal, landscape editing and restoration. These are dated company or benchmark snapshots, so they should not be treated as permanent rankings or proof that every current workflow uses the same model.

Reve's current consumer plans are Free at $0 per month, Lite at $7.99 per month plus tax, and Pro at $19.99 per month plus tax. Free includes creative energy refreshed daily, basic storage and a one-time video-energy allowance after signup. Lite provides five times the Free energy and storage. Pro provides 100 times the Free energy and storage, 250 dedicated video energy per month, video generation, and PDF and audio context. Pro users can also spend standard energy on up to 100 additional video energy per day. Reve does not publish an absolute Free-energy amount or annual consumer price. A separate 100-energy purchase costs $20. Free accounts are default opt-in to model training, while Lite and Pro offer an opt-out.

Reve is proprietary, its weights are not released, it is not self-hostable and its API ended on August 14, 2026. Its privacy policy says Reve and third-party AI technologies process prompts and content, and that third parties may access personal information in prompts and information obtained from outputs for service delivery. Midjourney is a closer generation-focused alternative, while Reve puts more emphasis on editable layouts and natural-language changes. Google Imagen offers managed cloud APIs and enterprise controls rather than Reve's consumer workspace. ComfyUI offers local node-based control and model choice, but requires more setup. Pick Reve if an integrated creation and editing workspace matters more than local deployment, open weights or an active API.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Reve cost?

Reve has three current consumer plans. Free costs $0 per month, Lite costs $7.99 per month plus tax, and Pro costs $19.99 per month plus tax. Reve does not publish annual consumer pricing. Pro includes 100 times Free energy and storage, video generation, 250 dedicated video energy per month, and PDF or audio context.

Does Reve have a free plan?

Yes. Free includes creative energy refreshed daily, basic storage and a one-time video-energy allowance after signup. Reve does not publish an absolute Free-energy amount. Free accounts are default opt-in to model training, while Lite and Pro subscribers can opt out. The Free plan also includes image generation, ask-to-edit and chat brainstorming.

How does Reve compare with Midjourney?

Reve focuses on a broader workspace with natural-language editing, multi-image compositing and layout-aware changes. Midjourney is a generation-focused competitor that appeared in Reve's launch comparisons. Reve no longer offers an API and does not release model weights, so developers seeking local deployment or an active integration route may prefer another product.

Does Reve train on user images or prompts?

Reve's plan documentation says Free accounts are default opt-in to model training, while Lite and Pro users can opt out. Its privacy policy says Reve and third-party AI technologies process prompts and content. The policy also says third parties may access personal information in prompts and information obtained from outputs when providing the service.

Can I use Reve images commercially?

Reve's terms say customers retain rights in inputs and own rights the company holds in outputs to the extent legally available. Reve assigns its own output rights to the customer, while warning that outputs may not be unique and that third-party or reference-content rights may apply. Users remain responsible for copyright, permissions and commercial clearance.
