Nextpoint Review, Pricing & Alternatives (2026)

Cloud eDiscovery and litigation software priced per user with unlimited data hosting

Last updated: October 26, 2026

What is Nextpoint?

Nextpoint is cloud eDiscovery and litigation software from Chicago that covers document review, productions, depositions and trial preparation. It charges a flat monthly rate per user with no hosting, processing or per-GB fees. AI Transcript Summaries draft deposition summaries on Amazon Bedrock, and an AI Search mode for plain-language document search is in early access as of October 2026.

Nextpoint was founded in Chicago in 2001 and says it has run cloud-native since 2005, which makes it one of the older cloud eDiscovery vendors. It serves small and midsize law firms, corporate legal teams and government agencies, and says more than 600 firms and legal teams use it. Its best-known decision came in 2018, when it dropped per-gigabyte pricing for a flat per-user subscription with unlimited data hosting, which it describes as a first in eDiscovery software. Alongside the software, Nextpoint sells litigation and data services such as collection, processing help, data migration and managed review for teams without in-house litigation support staff.

The eDiscovery workspace handles import, processing, culling, review and production. Teams drag and drop files into a case or import from OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive and Zoom, and processing runs deduplication, deNISTing, OCR and metadata extraction automatically. Review tools include Boolean search, filters, custom coding and tags, email threading, near-duplicate detection, bulk actions, annotations and auto-redactions. Users save production templates, generate load files and privilege logs, and share productions with opposing counsel or experts at no added cost. A separate case building suite manages deposition transcripts, designations, exhibits, chronologies and timelines, and includes presentation tools for hearings and trial, so the same documents flow from review into the courtroom.

Nextpoint's AI features are newer and narrower than those of the largest platforms. AI Transcript Summaries, introduced in December 2025, generate narrative, chronological and table-of-contents summaries of deposition transcripts and run on Amazon Bedrock. AI Search, a redesigned search that combines keyword precision with natural-language queries to find semantically related documents, is in early access with select clients as of October 1, 2026. Pattern recognition drives auto-redactions and similarity scoring powers near-duplicate detection. Nextpoint says its AI runs inside its own AWS environment, does not train on client data and keeps an attorney in the loop for case decisions, treating summaries as drafts for review.

Nextpoint sells three plans, all with unlimited cases, unlimited data hosting and free productions. Essential covers core review, production and deposition tools for small teams. Advanced adds discovery analytics, review management templates, per-document auto-redactions, custom production templates and advanced permissions. Apex is a custom enterprise plan with near-duplicate scoring, search hit reports, universal auto-redactions, global search and data migration services. Prices are quoted by team size, and monthly processing limits vary by plan. A 2024 Nextpoint blog post said subscriptions started at $262.50 per user a month at the time, with possible user minimums, so current quotes may differ.

Nextpoint's main appeal is predictable cost: firms can quote clients a fixed software fee regardless of data volume, and productions do not add charges. Its limits are a smaller AI feature set than Relativity, Everlaw or DISCO, and per-user pricing that can cost more for large review teams with modest data. Logikcull offers self-serve uploads with per-GB pricing, and Everlaw and DISCO add generative AI review at higher price points. RelativityOne suits very large matters. CaseMark and Filevine cover deposition summaries and case management. Choose Nextpoint if you are a small or midsize litigation team that wants flat pricing across review, depositions and trial.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Nextpoint cost?

Nextpoint charges a flat monthly rate per user, with no data hosting, processing or per-matter fees and free productions. Pricing depends on plan and team size, so Nextpoint provides custom quotes. A 2024 Nextpoint blog post said subscriptions started at $262.50 per user a month at that time, with user minimums possible.

Does Nextpoint charge per gigabyte?

No. Nextpoint moved to per-user pricing in 2018 and includes unlimited data hosting on all plans. Monthly processing limits vary by plan, but storage, OCR, deduplication and productions do not carry separate per-GB charges, which makes costs easier to predict for growing matters.

Does Nextpoint use AI?

Yes. AI Transcript Summaries, launched in December 2025, create narrative, chronological and table-of-contents summaries of depositions using Amazon Bedrock. AI Search, which accepts natural-language queries, is in early access as of October 2026. Auto-redactions and near-duplicate detection use pattern recognition and similarity scoring.

Nextpoint or Logikcull, which is better?

Both target smaller teams. Logikcull offers self-serve uploads and pay-as-you-go pricing by gigabyte, which suits occasional, small matters. Nextpoint charges per user with unlimited data, which suits firms with steady litigation and growing data, and it adds deposition and trial tools that Logikcull does not focus on.

Is client data used to train Nextpoint AI?

Nextpoint says it does not train AI on customer data. Its AI features run inside Nextpoint's own secured AWS environment, using models it hosts and Amazon Bedrock, so case content is not sent to consumer AI tools. AI output is meant as a starting point for attorney review.
