Conductor Review, Pricing & Alternatives (2026)
Enterprise SEO and AI search visibility platform with writing, monitoring and agents
Last updated: October 26, 2026
What is Conductor?
Conductor is an enterprise platform for SEO and answer engine optimization (AEO), tracking how a brand ranks in Google and appears in ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI answers. It serves large in-house marketing teams at brands such as FedEx and Mastercard. Plans (Essentials, Growth, Enterprise) are usage-based and quote-only, with no published prices.
Conductor was founded in New York in 2006 by Seth Besmertnik and Bradley Boronow as an enterprise SEO platform. WeWork bought it in 2018, and the founders bought it back in 2019, after which it continued as an independent company. It now describes itself as an end-to-end enterprise AEO platform, reflecting a shift from tracking blue-link rankings to tracking whether AI assistants cite and recommend a brand. Customers named on its site include Citi, e.l.f. Cosmetics, FedEx and Mastercard. Conductor was named a Leader in Forrester's Wave for SEO platforms. Its buyers are mostly large in-house teams with many sites, markets and stakeholders rather than agencies or small businesses.
The platform has four parts. Conductor Intelligence reports on keyword rankings, AI search visibility, topics, competitors and technical health, with global reporting across sites. Conductor Creator includes the Writing Assistant, which drafts SEO content using Content Profiles that hold brand voice and compliance rules, plus content scores and internal link recommendations. Conductor Monitoring, built on its 2022 acquisition of ContentKing, watches sites around the clock and alerts teams when titles, canonicals, robots rules or other elements change. AgentStack, launched in April 2026, adds official apps for ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, an MCP server, a data API and turnkey agents that take content from brief to optimized draft.
Conductor's AI search tracking relies on synthetic prompts calibrated to each customer's topics and audiences. The April 2026 AI Search Performance release ties AI visibility to the pages that earn citations, compares brands by topic and recommends the content changes most likely to raise presence in AI answers. Conductor says its Writing Assistant is trained on more than 10 years of search data and personalized to each brand. An AI Crawler Activity report shows whether bots from OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and others can reach key pages. Conductor does not publish which foundation models generate its drafts. Plans meter AI use through yearly Writing Assistant drafts and AI search credits.
Conductor publishes plan limits but not prices. Essentials includes 60 Writing Assistant drafts a year, 1,000 pages analyzed, 500 tracked keywords, five competitors and monitoring for 100,000 pages across three sites. Growth raises that to 180 drafts, 2,500 AI search credits a year, 5,000 keywords and 500,000 monitored pages. Enterprise starts at 600 drafts, 60,000 keywords and 10 or more sites. Conductor calls the model usage-based rather than per seat, so more users do not raise the bill. Buyer reports put typical contracts in the tens of thousands of dollars a year, with Monitoring and AgentStack features sometimes priced as add-ons.
Conductor's drawbacks are cost and fit. It is built for large organizations, and smaller teams pay for governance and reporting they will not use. Its backlink and competitive keyword data is thinner than Semrush or Ahrefs, which many Conductor customers keep alongside it. Botify and BrightEdge are the closest enterprise rivals; Botify is stronger on crawl analysis for huge sites, and BrightEdge competes on content recommendations. Semrush's Enterprise tier and AI Toolkit cover AI visibility at lower entry cost. Profound and Peec AI focus only on AI search tracking. Choose Conductor if you run SEO across many sites and need one platform for reporting, content and monitoring.

Technical Details
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Conductor cost?
Conductor does not publish prices. It sells three usage-based plans, Essentials, Growth and Enterprise, priced by drafts, keywords, pages and sites rather than seats. Buyer reports put typical contracts in the tens of thousands of dollars a year. You need to request a demo and quote, and there is no self-serve trial.
Does Conductor have a free plan?
No. Conductor sells only to businesses through sales-led contracts. It does publish free resources, including research reports and a free website monitoring trial through its ContentKing heritage at times. For free SEO data, Google Search Console remains the starting point, and tools like Ahrefs Webmaster Tools offer limited free site audits.
Conductor or BrightEdge, which is better?
Both are enterprise SEO platforms with AI search tracking and content recommendations. Conductor bundles 24/7 site monitoring from its ContentKing acquisition and offers AgentStack apps for ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. BrightEdge is known for its Data Cube keyword research and Autopilot automations. Both are quote-only, so a side-by-side trial on your own sites is the best test.
How does Conductor track AI search visibility?
Conductor runs synthetic prompts calibrated to each customer's topics and audiences across AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI experiences. It records whether the brand is mentioned or cited, which pages earn citations and how competitors compare by topic. Growth and Enterprise plans meter this through annual AI search credits.
Does Conductor use customer content to train AI?
Conductor says its Writing Assistant uses Content Profiles to apply each customer's brand voice and compliance rules, and that the writer draws on more than a decade of search data. It does not publish which model providers it uses. Enterprise buyers should review its data processing agreement and AI terms during procurement.
