Durable in brief
Durable Technologies Inc. makes Durable, an AI website builder aimed at independent entrepreneurs and service businesses. Launched in 2022, its first product had produced more than six million websites by December 2023, when the company announced a $14 million Series A and reported total funding of $20.25 million. Its current site reports more than three million businesses built, though neither figure confirms the number of customers. A March 2026 relaunch broadened Durable into a business platform combining website creation with CRM, bookings, invoicing, payments, marketing tools, AI assistance, and financial features. That expansion means users can handle more routine business tasks in one account, but it also places greater importance on pricing limits, AI credit usage, privacy requirements, and the platform’s narrower customization and ecommerce capabilities.
Durable’s main advantage is reducing the number of tools a service business needs at launch. One setup can produce a website, booking flow, customer records, forms, analytics, invoices, and payment links, while the shared business information supports marketing tasks such as blog posts, social content, review responses, and lead replies. The tradeoff is control. AI-generated copy and images may need careful editing, and the editor offers less HTML and design flexibility than platforms built for extensive customization. Credit limits also matter: the Free plan includes 300 total credits, while Launch and Grow provide 1,000 and 5,000 monthly credits. Durable is therefore better suited to consultants and other service providers seeking a fast, managed presence than to businesses needing complex ecommerce, deep customization, or large content systems.
Durable is best understood as a quick service-business website tool, not a flexible platform for demanding online operations. Its generated copy and layouts can require substantial editing, while ecommerce support is limited and HTML customization is not extensive. The 2024 B12 review also reported basic templates, limited customization, and minimal SEO controls. Wix is a stronger alternative for broader design options and apps, Squarespace suits businesses that prefer curated templates, and WordPress.com offers greater publishing extensibility. These differences affect future work: a shop, distinctive brand system, or site dependent on extensions may outgrow Durable and require migration or added services. By contrast, a consultant or local service provider can get a site, booking flow, CRM, hosting, and domain in one setup. Choose Durable for speed and built-in operations; choose Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress.com for greater flexibility.
