Atlassian Rovo logo Atlassian Rovo in brief

Rovo is Atlassian's AI product, announced in April 2024 and made available to all paid cloud customers in 2025. Atlassian, the Australian-founded company behind Jira, Confluence, Trello, Loom and Bitbucket, built Rovo on its Teamwork Graph, which maps the relationships between people, projects, pages, tickets and code across Atlassian apps and connected tools such as Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft SharePoint and Figma. The goal is to give teams one place to find and act on company knowledge without leaving their work apps. Rovo is not sold as a separate product. It turns on automatically for organizations with Standard, Premium or Enterprise cloud plans on a verified business domain.

Rovo has four main parts. Search finds pages, work items, files and conversations across Atlassian and connected apps, respecting each source's permissions. Chat answers questions with citations, summarizes projects and drafts content, with a Think Deeper mode for longer reasoning. Agents are specialized helpers that groom Jira backlogs, organize Confluence spaces, review content against style rules, or resolve service requests. Atlassian ships ready-made agents and lets teams build their own in Rovo Studio, which was expanded at Team '26 in May 2026 to recommend agents, automations or apps from a plain description of a problem. Apps, in beta, generate custom Forge apps from a single prompt.

Rovo's main advantage is context. Because it reads Jira, Confluence and Loom natively, it can answer questions about project status and ownership that general assistants cannot. Its drawbacks are cost uncertainty under the new credit model, a requirement for Atlassian cloud plans and a smaller set of connectors than dedicated enterprise search. Glean is the closest rival for company-wide AI search and agents across hundreds of apps. Microsoft 365 Copilot suits organizations built on Teams and SharePoint. Notion AI and ClickUp Brain serve teams that run work in those apps. Choose Rovo if Jira and Confluence are where your work already lives.

Glean logo Glean in brief

Glean is an enterprise AI company founded in 2019. Its product connects workplace information to search and assistant workflows. Unlike a standalone consumer chatbot, its value depends on integration with the organization's documents, applications, identities, and access permissions.

Deployment begins with connecting business systems and configuring identity and permissions. Employees can then search across connected information or ask questions grounded in organizational content. Agent workflows build on that foundation, making connector coverage and permission configuration part of the buying decision.

Glean competes with Guru for organizational knowledge access, Microsoft 365 Copilot for suite-centered assistance, and Atlassian Rovo for connected workplace search. Its trade-off is enterprise deployment and negotiated pricing rather than a self-serve trial price. Pick Glean when cross-application knowledge access and permissions justify an organization-wide implementation.

Frequently asked questions

How do Atlassian Rovo vs Glean compare on price?

Atlassian Rovo has no free plan, and its first paid plan (Jira or Confluence Standard) is listed at Included in plan. Glean has no free plan, and its first paid plan (Enterprise Flex) is listed at Custom. Prices are from each company's pricing page and can change, so check before you buy.

Which has a free plan, Atlassian Rovo vs Glean?

None of them has a permanent free plan. Atlassian Rovo starts at Included in plan. Glean starts at Custom.

Can I self-host or integrate Atlassian Rovo vs Glean?

None of them is open source. All of them run as hosted services only. Atlassian Rovo and Glean offer a public API.

Is Atlassian Rovo free?

Rovo has no separate price. It is included with Standard, Premium and Enterprise cloud plans of Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management and Atlassian's collections, with a monthly pool of Rovo credits. Rovo Search and inline summaries are free. From December 3, 2026, usage beyond the included credits is billed unless an admin turns it off.

How do Rovo credits work?

Each paid seat adds credits to an organization-wide pool: 25, 70 or 150 a month for Jira or Confluence Standard, Premium or Enterprise. A basic Rovo Chat message or simple agent call costs 10 credits, and advanced agents cost variable amounts. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. Admins get alerts at 80 and 100 percent.

How much does Glean cost?

Glean does not publish USD seat prices. Its documentation describes Enterprise Flex and Core Suite arrangements rather than a public self-serve price sheet. A useful quote needs to cover users, model usage, credits, and any commitments or overages. Treat unsourced third-party seat estimates as unsuitable substitutes for a current offer.

Does Glean have a free plan?

Glean's public pricing is sales-led rather than a published free subscription. Organizations should discuss an evaluation and deployment scope with the company. The pricing documentation focuses on enterprise seat and consumption structures, so an unlimited free consumer assistant is not an appropriate comparison for its intended use.
